Texture Garden in the popular press
Texture Garden has appeared in a number of public places:
09-Feb-97
Archimedies World have featured Texture Garden on the March
1997 issue's cover disc. The author was quite suprised to learn about this in a
press release - he had not been informed. Fortunately the magazine's editor
promptly agreed to send him a complementary copy. The version is 0.51, from
October 1996. With some irony the magazine itself features screenshots from a
more recent version.
27-Jan-97
The RISC-DISC 3 from Uniqueway has
a copy of Texture Garden on it (with much of my other
software).
20-Jan-97
v0.57 was given some publicity (with screenshots) in January 1997's issue
of COMPUTER SHOPPER. The 'Acorn
Shopper' section of this magazine now fairly regularly has some editorial
space on the cover CD-ROM, and Texture Garden was included
for purchasers who chose the version of the magazine with the bundled CD.
22-Dec-96
v0.55 was reviewed in December 1996's Acorn Publisher (Volume 3, Issue 2).
The review was quite favourable; indeed the only criticism was based on a
minor factual error. Regrettably an incorrect URL was quoted for the program,
and for a short while some interested parties were unable to locate it. They
also misprinted the associated physical address by missing out the number of
he author's house, so a large number of mail enquiries took over a month to
reach him.
20-Nov-96
v0.40 was reviewed in December 1996's Acorn User (Issue 175). The review was quite favourable; indeed the only
criticism was based on a minor factual error. Regrettably they quoted an
incorrect URL for the program, and interested parties were unable to locate it.
Fortunately these errors were ironed out in an update several months later.
The same incorrect URL (and an incorrect version number) is still present in
the link to Texture Garden on Acorn User's web site.
10-Oct-97
The Datafile's PDCD 4 has a
version of Texture Garden on it.
01-Oct-97
The ARM club distributed a copy of v0.42 on their monthly subscription disc.
